Nov. 18, 2021 — Barranquilla

Arrived in Barranquilla around 3:00 this afternoon.  Barranquilla is a huge port city.  From what we could tell from the hour drive from the airport to the area where the pastor lives, it looks like a well kept city.  We are staying in the Prado burrio (neighborhood), the oldest in the city, although it looks pretty nice to us.

We have not been with Pastor Alex for about 6 years.  It was great seeing him again and catching up.  The church he and 3 other men pastor now has about 100 attending.  All of the pastors work full time outside of the church as well.  They have daughtered two other churches, one in Cartagena which too is now up to about 100 people, and one in Santa Marta.  Praise God!  The last time we were here there were maybe 40 people in his church.  Daughtering involves teaching and training the leaders of that church and helping it get started, and offering continued support.  He was very excited about it.  We are too!

Tonight Don will start teaching at 6:00.  This is pretty special for us because it was here, in this city, at the exact hotel we are staying in, where Don was first smitten when a woman from a conference that they were having on the other side of town, tracked him down and fingers pounding on the table, said “I am here because I want to know the truth!”  That was all he needed to hear! So here we are today!
