When I’m in NYC, I will definitely be stopping by there to get some shots like you and AnnDrew. Dean Street Townhouse, located in a pair of Georgian terraced houses, with a good-looking bar and a masculine dining room set back from the street, is not only very handsome, the guys here are also very obliging. And the restaurant's a humdinger. Soho is one of my favorite places and they definitely have their share of great spots to eat.

Perch at the bleacher-style bench in the centre of the lurid marble and gold room and indulge in wacky Willy Wonka treats galore. We're talking traditional Thai spicy. This quirky Soho and Shoreditch bistro takes traditional French dishes and serves them tapas-style, meaning you get to mix and match. It’s a no-frills spot, with minimal decor and tables close together. On the ground , it serves what are very likely London's most exquisite dim sum at lunchtime, before the space morphs into a teashop mid-afternoon, with beautiful cakes and pastries, which you can eat on the premises or take away. And there are less complex creations too, like a treacle tart with milk ice cream that will take you straight back to the Indian nursery. The focal point of the new restaurant is the open firepit – as a rule of thumb, anything cooked on here is completely delicious. Lamb chops, seared to the point of blistering yet vibrant pink within, which comes with a soaringly fresh wild garlic chutney, and a gutsy curry of pumpkin and paneer in a creamy tomato-based makhani sauce. ‘Satisfying but safe’ sums it up.

Head to the bar and counter for cocktails and nibbles; sit in the main space for a full-on nosh – perhaps chicken tostadas followed by tacos filled with slow cooked pork shoulder. It all tastes brilliant – gutsy, stripped back and practically cutting-edge. The bakery is (somewhat chaotic) counter service, while the adjoining pizzeria offers table service and a marginally calmer atmosphere. Of course, the food itself is SO tasty, it's probably the main contender- we followed recommendations and were not disappointed: the traditional Aji de Gallina was zesty and distinctive, with creamy sauce balancing the punch of Aji Amarillo chillis, while the Lomo Saltado was as tender and hearty as anything found in deepest Peru. Jack’s Wife Freda serves an important purpose in Soho, and that purpose is an easy lunch or very casual dinner. In the seductive low light, snake-hipped staff dart about in the 13 or so square feet not taken up with diners (watch out for the record player) – they are diligent in guiding customers through the racks of wines lining the bar wall (all natural or biodynamic and updated weekly, many available by the glass) and well briefed about the menu, which takes seasonal ingredients and spins them on a sixpence into small-dish lip-smackers. From the talented people behind Salt Yard and Dehesa, Ember Yard is pretty unprepossessing from the street - on our first visit we walked right past it. Their avocado toast is all that!!

Here, the kitchen focuses on Mediterranean-inspired fare: spinach pie stuffed with lemon, herbs and feta; lamb and chicken kebabs drizzled in spiced yogurt; and spit-roasted chicken shawarma. Sugary sweet, it melts in the mouth and is an absolute must. No one does dairy better than the Swiss, and no one does Swiss better than Heritage.
