Question: How many milk crates can you stack on the back on a motorcycle? Answer: 27. I saw it myself.
Observation: Saw a road sign on the side of a 4 lane highway with a 4 foot divider with the picture of a crab! Guess it was for “cracked shell” crabs! Sorry, I couldn’t resist. I really did see the sign though.
Had our Covid tests this afternoon by the drop-in Dr. and her assistant, a health and beauty soap salesman. Really, I couldn’t make this stuff up. He was her interpreter – and he did a pretty good job. We probably would have bought the soap too if we had room in our bags! She said that we would have the results by email and WhatsApp in a couple hours. Well, it’s 9:20 and we haven’t heard a word. Hmmmmm. We’ll have to take this up first thing tomorrow. (That’s a prayer request).
Don taught all morning and in the afternoon we met with Alex and his wife. They grew up in a charismatic church and he and a group of men started a Bible study and began to have questions like why do we believe that you have to speak in tongues to prove that you are a Christian? Where does it say in the Bible that if you give to God, He will give back to you? Where does it say that we will always be healed? It did not go well and either they left or were asked to leave. He was asked to help teach and preach in a church with a female pastor. That lasted 6 months and he was asked to leave. So a small group of 8 began meeting in his home. Later he began studying through SRL. He now still works full time as an auditor, helps pastor a church, teaches for SRL in Barranquilla and is helping establish two other churches. He’s 50 and asks for prayer for more workers. I think of the scripture where Jesus says that the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. The newly forming churches need funding for a place to meet. Their houses are too small to contain everyone and they don’t have the money to begin renting. Please pray for those churches.
This will just about wrap it up. Tomorrow is church. Don will be preaching. Lord willing, we will get our test results and head home on Monday. Thank you for your prayers and support. When Don mentions that he is closer to the brothers and sisters in Colombia than he is with our American neighbors who we love, there are always lots of amens from the people. Our brothers and sisters here send their love.
